Dear Ryan Murphy and Company,
I did not, will not, and CAN not care about Samuel Larsen’s character and storyline, especially during a season when a) Tina Cohen-Chang continues to be chronically underutilized b) Mercedes has been used as a dumping ground for your racist and misogynistic bullshit and is only relevant now that a white savior male is interested in her c) Kurt’s character has been effectively kicked back under the bus d) Santana’s coming out storyline was more about Finn than Santana e) Quinn was given such bullshit for her storyline and characterization I can’t even think about it with getting angry f) Shelby Corcoran, a character that was portrayed to be a strong, capable woman in the seasons previous to this, needed the healing touch (literally at some points) of a high school TEENAGER to help her raise her own child g) Blaine is a JUNIOR h) there has been nowhere near equal parity when it comes to queer and straight representation i) Sebastian, sissyphobic douchebag he is, is getting continued focus j) Coach Beiste has been reduced to a character that cries over men and gives out pithy remarks around mouthfuls of chicken k) Rachel Berry might agree to marry Finn Hudson l) WILL SCHUESTER WAS PORTRAYED AS A JESUS CHARACTER.
I assure you, my rage that another normative male character (dreadlocks and ‘misunderstood’ persona - GAG ME - aside), is getting focus while all of the above problematic happened/is still happening, will pretty much be unconquerable at this point.
No Love,
Mariah
I feel like at this point they liked the 5:1 ratio of dudes to ladies at Sectionals so much that they are going to just keep adding bland talentless top dog white dudes until they match it again.
Also, Tina who?
I FEEL LIKE IAU AND THE THE BURT HUMMEL KICKS KURT IN THE TEETH PLOT POINTS ALSO SHOULD BE BROUGHT UP BECAUSE GOD DAMN.
Couldbe, I was about two seconds away from including that in my original post, but I couldn’t exactly articulate why I’ve been so upset (and I’m more than angry, I’m actually upset) about Burt and Kurt’s relationship this season. But yes. Both of those things are definitely points that should be included/were on my mind when I said ‘Kurt’s character has effectively been effectively kicked under the bus’.
